At present the Finnish Transport Agency is in the process of developing its environmental management system. The FTA‘s environmental policy was approved in the autumn of 2014, and the environmental programme based on it will be completed in the autumn of 2015.

From the FTA‘s perspective, the most important environmental issues are climate change mitigation and adaptation, soil and ground water protection, noise and vibration control, protection of the marine environment of the Baltic Sea, and air quality. The preserving of nature and biodiversity, landscape and cultural environments, consumption of resources and surface water protection are matters that greatly influence the way we carry out our operations.

Environmental responsibility - a component of corporate social responsibility

Traditionally, corporate social responsibility has been divided into three categories: economic, ecological and social responsibility. To act in a sustainable and responsible way is one of the Finnish Transport Agency‘s strategic goals. We are now starting our corporate social responsibility reporting, with the aim of highlighting the FTA‘s societal impact from the perspective of the responsible party.
