Testing of intelligent fairways, scheduled to begin next year, will pave way for autonomous ships

The Finnish Transport Agency will start testing intelligent fairways at the beginning of 2017. Intelligent fairways are able to inform mariners about the prevailing conditions and vessel movements in the fairway. Several fairways along the Finnish coast will be used as test platforms.

New research project aims at smarter mobility

The Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi), the Finnish Transport Agency and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences are carrying out and financing a joint research project with the aim of promoting solutions for flexible, non-polluting and user-friendly mobility services (Mobility as a Service MaaS).

A new-era, open Journey Planner is available for testing

In June, the Finnish Transport Agency published a beta version of the nationwide journey.fi service, which is now being renewed. The nationwide Journey Planner will offer comprehensive services for those travelling from city to city and locally.
